Common questions
Is simple window replacement the same as enlarging the opening?
No. Once the opening geometry changes, the lintel, jamb, header, sill, or adjacent wall behavior may also change, and the job becomes more structurally sensitive.
What if the window is becoming a door?
That usually deserves a separate structural review because the loads, support conditions, waterproofing interfaces, and use pattern all change.
Can deteriorated lintels or shelf angles be handled as replacement only?
Sometimes, but visible distress, corrosion, cracking, or changed opening geometry often means the project needs a fuller structural review rather than a trade-only assumption.
